Rebuilding Effort - Survivors of SuperTyphoon Haiyan/Yolanda
We want to provide critically needed resources for medicine, food, clothing and shelter to strengthen the survivors as they rebuild their lives after this tragedy. Will you please give generously?
What We Have Learned
The typhoon that passed through the Philippines had horrifying consequences for Tacloban (on Leyte) where wind and storm surge killed thousands. But the typhoon also had devastating consequences for Guiuan and other communities in Eastern Samar, where the typhon struck first with more ferocious winds than anywhere else. Hundreds died, perhaps a thousand or more need medicines that are not available, and over 50,000 have been displaced.
Tacloban is closer to Manila and easier to reach so almost all of the images Americans have seen on the media have been from Tacloban. The people there need our help and prayers, but the devestation is much wider. We must remember the people of Tacloban but we cannot forget the needs and sufferings of the people of Eastern Samar.
The video below will give you some idea of what Eastern Samar is experiencing.
Please continue to pray for the victims of the typhoon and help us to help the people in Eastern Samar. Thank you for your support.
