Dear Friend,
Soon our Priests, Nuns, Counselors, Parents, Teachers, Doctors, or anyone else who teaches traditional Catholic Morality …
could be
JAILED for doing their job!

            Impossible? Not really.
Because it’s much closer that you would imagine!

You see, on July 25th this year (that’s next Friday) Filipinos will be joining hands in a rally to oppose and upcoming vote on the “Two-Child Policy” officially known as: “
An Act Providing for a National Policy on Reproductive Health, Responsible Parenthood and Population Development, and other purposes”,
which espouses mandatory, state-sponsored sex “education” for Filipino children starting from Grade 5 up to Fourth Year High School

… all cloaked under the enticing banner of “Population Control”.

But if you read the fine print, here’s what you’ll find:
  • Under Sec. 12, the content of the “curriculum” will be determined solely by a panel appointed by the Director of Population Control disallowing any input or dissenting opinion from others outside the panel.
  • Sec. 12, further prohibits any person, Priest, Doctor, Counselor, Teacher or Parent from teaching an “alternative morality” (our Catholic values) to our children, or prohibits the child from attending mandatory sex education classes under penalty of law to include up to six months imprisonment!
  • Further, there is a guised provision for “same sex marriage” which will challenge the sanctity of marriage, the very nucleus of civilization.

This Bill is an outright abomination!

And this is why I’ve taken the bold step of writing you today.

If it passes, it will put a quick end to 400 years of Catholic Morality and place our Catholic Church helpless and on her knees before the almighty State.

Then, a godless, new “morality” will be firmly entrenched … and the last bastion of
Catholicism in Asia (if not the world) will be gone forever.

Hi, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Eileen Macapanas Cosby, Filipina-American and a former lecturer and graduate of the Franciscan University of Steubenville, in Steubenville, OH.

Sometime in the year 2000, I met some incredible Filipino missionary priests and sisters who made me realize I was not just an American, I was a Filipina as well, as it was my beloved mother’s homeland. And it is with this realization that I formed an affinity towards Filipinos, and the Philippines as well.

From my youth, I was raised a Catholic, and became firmly rooted in Catholicism during my adult years as a student in a Catholic university. I deeply cherish my faith, and my Catholic values. It is a faith I unequivocally believe in and will defend against any threat from within or without.

I write you today with hope you feel the same way too.

Because we need your help
.

During my honeymoon in Rome, I had the pleasure of meeting Cardinal Vidal, the highest ranking Church official in the Philippines.  Only a month after I got back, I learned about the Two Child Policy bill being proposed in the Philippines.  My new husband and I became immediately alarmed upon reading all its stipulations and how it threatened to effectively reverse and render meaningless 400 years of Catholic doctrine and values in the Philippines.

We could not simply stand by doing nothing, so I researched further … I needed to know in what stage the Bill was at, how an opposition could be mounted, which US Congressman or Senator I should talk to … I looked up Filipino politicians, clergymen, or religious groups that already may be in opposition to this Bill … and I also looked up which Filipino politicians were already in favor.

I was totally dismayed at the results.

The UNFPA and Intl Planned Parenthood-sponsored Bill had $25-million in funding, and over half the Philippine Congress was already behind it.

While it was clearly an uphill battle from the very start, with the advice of some US Congressmen friends we developed, we decided to form the FILIPINO FAMILY FUND with my lawyer-husband Joe, and a handful of Filipino and American volunteers.

With the Filipino Family Fund now a legal entity, we embarked on a strong opposition encouraging our Executive Branch, our State Department, grass-roots leaders, and our Congressmen to look into the legality of USAID funds being surreptitiously used to fund unwarranted coercive family planning practices in the Philippines.

About a year later, with the help of other Filipino leaders we succeeded in stopping the vote in the Philippine Congress and had the Bill tabled for discussion at a later date. In the meantime, we alerted many of our Clergy in the Philippines with regards to the real threats this Bill presented.

In celebration of that initial victory, the Filipino Family Fund held an Awards dinner to recognize and thank our leaders such as White House Comissioner Vellie Dietrich-Hall, Dr. Kent Hill, Congressman Chris and Mrs. Marie Smith, Fr. Frank Pavone, Mrs. Mercedes Wilson, Congressman Todd Tiahrt, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, Congressman Trent Franks, Ms. Deirdre McQuade, Archbishop Aniceto, Congressman Christian Seneres and others who were instrumental in assisting us in achieving our initial success.
And because it’s your victory too, we’d like to share some pictures of the event with you that you may get a glimpse of who we are as well. To visit our photo gallery, please click [HERE].

We invite you to share this with others as well so as many people as possible visit our website at:
www.filipinofamilyfund.org.

If you had a chance to visit our site and our gallery, we hope you enjoyed it. But more than that … we hope you get a feel of who we are, that we’re real people, and that we’re genuinely concerned about the direction to which our Country is being led.

Because the truth is, the battle isn’t over.

We don’t know how the vote will turn out next week and we’ve already helped the Church with a modest grant. Hopefully, with your help, we could do more in the future. But for today, we’ve done all we could and now we can only sit and wait.

And of course, pray … and trust in God. Because it’s in His Hands now.

We ask that you pray along with us.

In the meantime, let's just chat a bit, ok? You and me. One on one.

I’d like to tell you a little more about that research I did early on. You see, I found another issue that truly bothered me. I discovered another problem that happens much too often to many of our fellow countrymen. And it is a problem that simply gnawed at my heart from the moment that I met those heroic missionaries who worked in the Philippines back in 2000.

It’s about our innocent little children, 8 to 14 years old, being sold by their needy parents for a few hundred pesos to be used for the pleasure of others

… in the Human Trafficking trade.

It’s about our young women being given “entertainment” jobs abroad and then forced into prostitution as part of the package. It’s about Filipino maids in foreign lands forcibly used as sex slaves by their employers. It’s about dehumanizing our virtuous, Catholic women, and destroying their honor and self-respect. It’s about a wailing child being torn away from her parents by a stranger who just bought her life forever!

Imagine this was your child. Your sister. Your wife. Your mother.

It is an experience no child should be subjected to, and no parent should ever have to face. Yet it happens. More often than we will ever know. It happens as a result of abject poverty … as an economic necessity … but most of all, it happens because no one talks about it.

By now you’re probably wondering what anyone can do about it.

Actually, quite a lot, my friend. But I’ll need your help to do it.

It’s called the Voice of Public Opinion.

And that’s precisely what the FILIPINO FAMILY FUND is all about. Together … we can become that one voice from a distant shore to replace the silenced voices of our oppressed masses. Together, we can mold public opinion and influence the passing of good laws and policies for the benefit of all. Together, we can support the election of honest, principled men into office and expose those that aren’t. Together, we can review current laws (or lack of it) and suggest changes or policies to help protect our countrymen from oppression in foreign lands.

Together, we can become a conscience for our nation.

A healthy exchange of differing opinions invariably results in responsive governance. But when opposing opinions are silenced, government is free to pursue their own interests with no one to account to for their actions.

In short, we need to stop being silent.

In the course of the past few years, the FILIPINO FAMILY FUND has already positioned itself where it is most effective. We have cultivated friends in high places in the US Congress to support us. They hear us. They listen to us. But they need to see us grow. They need to see that we represent the concerns of thousands rather than just a handful. They need to see that you, the Filipino people, have rallied behind us in full support of our efforts.

This is precisely why I wrote you today, to ask for your help by joining us today.

To reach as many Filipinos as we can, we’ve set membership at only $25 a year, a small price to pay to help influence public opinion towards the greater good. We have other levels of commitment and if you click here, we hope you’ll consider joining us in our effort.

It is said that evil happens because good men do nothing. With the Filipino Family Fund, you can be a part of an effective team already in motion, with staunchly Christian leaders at the helm. Join us today and help us with our work. In return, we’ll keep you updated every month on the progress we are making and alert you about other issues that need your attention.

I thank you for reading this letter and anticipate my warmest welcome to you as a new colleague and supporter.

May God bless you,
Eileen
